    Geiranger and Trollstigen

    A Norwegian adventure

Embarking on a bus tour in Norway promises an expedition into some of Europe's most awe-inspiring landscapes. Your adventure starts as the ship anchors near Geiranger, a picturesque village nestled in a famous fjord.

Surrounded by imposing natural beauty, you wave goodbye to your cruise ship and set out for a day filled with adventure.

Anticipation builds as you board your bus at the wharf. With a mix of passengers, tour operators have arranged for a multilingual guide.

    The Journey Begins

Your bus is led by Dominic, an enthusiastic American whose fluency in English and German ensures everyone's inclusion.

Dominic's passion for Norway is infectious. He shares how his dream to work in this stunning country became a reality. His narrative sets a joyful tone for the trip as you lean back to enjoy the views. The day promises exploration, ending with dinner in Molde.

    Geiranger to Ørnesvingen
    (Eagle Turn)

The bus winds its way up on the mountain route. Up, up, we go, around nine hair-raising hairpin curves, each with its own name and dramatic view.

On our way up, we spot two tiny huts built on the plateau of a cliff sticking out of the mountain wall. It’s hard to imagine who (or how?) anyone could live there, but the view alone is worth the effort.

We stop at the last hairpin curve: “Ørnesvingen” (Eagle Turn).

Gudbrandsjuvet's Wonders - Exploring the Gorge

You continue to Gudbrandsjuvet, known for its spectacular river gorge. The Valldøla River has carved a dramatic landscape over millennia. Dominic entertains with amusing Norwegian cultural anecdotes, adding laughter to the awe-struck atmosphere.

The Troll's Path - Driving Trollstigen

Your journey proceeds to Trollstigen, famous for its steep incline and sharp bends. Despite the challenging terrain, the lush scenery dotted with traditional turf-roofed houses offers a glimpse into Norway's pastoral beauty and deep-rooted traditions.

At a steep incline of 10% and eleven hair-raising hairpin bends, the Trollveggen reaches an elevation of 850m (2,790ft) above sea level.

Summit Mysteries - Encountering Fog at the Top

At Trollstigen's summit, although fog obscures some views, the mystical atmosphere it creates is unique. Dominic assures that the descent will offer different vistas, keeping spirits high.

At times, there will be fog.

Cultural Insights - Learning and Laughter
